About the lab

Image-driven science across scales.

A computational earth-science group at Universitas Padjadjaran. We build physics-based and data-driven methods that pull numbers from images, from micro-CT rock scans to satellite views.

Digital Rock Physics

We use lattice Boltzmann, image processing, and deep learning to estimate permeability, porosity, and tortuosity in carbonates, sandstones, and fractured media, for reservoir characterisation, groundwater flow, and CO₂ storage.

Lattice Boltzmann, image processing and deep learning to estimate permeability, porosity and tortuosity.

Remote Sensing

We use cloud computing, machine learning, and high-resolution imagery to map land use and land cover, detect environmental change, and study urban dynamics across Indonesia.

Cloud computing and machine learning to map land cover and environmental change across Indonesia.

How we work

We combine rigorous computation, open data, and real Indonesian field problems, and train students to do well where they meet.

Rigorous computation, open data and real Indonesian field problems.

Research areas

Two themes, one computational toolkit.

From pore networks to country-scale land-cover maps, both tracks share methods, code, and a passion for image-based earth science.
